The trial date of the former Fort Worth police officer charged with the fatal shooting of #AtatianaJefferson Has been set.
Originally supposed to start in November 2021, a judge rescheduled the appointment. fixed #AaronDean who will be tried for the death of? #AtatianaJefferson on January 10th, 2022.
This happened more than two years after Jefferson was shot through a window during a wellness check-up.
If you remember, Atatiana Jefferson was shot dead on a Saturday morning in 2019 while she was in a family home. The officer responded to the call after a neighbor reported that the front door of the apartment was open. From then on, things took a very tragic turn.
Within minutes of the call, police showed up at the scene and began to search the house from the outside. Body cam footage of the officer who fired the fatal shots at Jefferson shows him moving around the house, looking through a door and entering the back yard with a flashlight before firing. The officer shouted: “Hands up! Show me your hands! ”Before you shoot in the window, in less than 3 seconds.
Jefferson’s mother and father have both passed away since her death. Her father died of a heart attack and her mother died two months after him.
