Roommate, we extend our deep condolences to legendary music manager Clarence Avant and his family after the news of his wife’s death.
Corresponding TMZ, Clarence’s wife, Jacqueline Avant, was shot and killed late Tuesday during a home invasion. The police arrived at the apartment around 2:30 a.m. after a caller informed the dispatcher that someone had been shot. When they arrived, Jacqueline had been hospitalized.
A family source reportedly told the website that the people who broke into the house fired shots that sadly hit Jacqueline. Clarence was also home at the time of the robbery, but was not injured in the incident.
It is reported that security guards were present at the house. The guard was also shot, unfortunately, but did not return fire. At least one suspect, the shooter, was able to break into the house, it is unclear how many suspects were involved in the incident.

Many people know the story of Clarence and Jacqueline from the 2019 Netflix documentary The Black Godfather, which covered Clarence’s life and career over the years. The project not only showed Clarence’s influence on the music industry, it also showed his influence on film, politics, and more. Clarence is also part of the 2021 class that recently entered the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
According to Los Angeles times, Jacqueline was a noted philanthropist and showed her support in places like the UCLA International Student Center.
