The energy-saving lamp is getting closer: consumers should be aware now

In 2023, the lights will go out for energy-saving lamps, at least in the trade: from the end of February, models with sockets still available can no longer be produced. Only the remaining stocks are then still available. Consumer advice centers remind us of this.

From the end of summer 2023, this will also apply to fluorescent lamps in tube form or their currently available types T5 and T8. Also concerned: high-voltage halogen lamps with R7s base. Some of them are still used in outdated uplighters.

However, you shouldn’t stock up on old lights. Halogen lamps are considered energy-intensive. Energy-saving lamps, also called compact fluorescent lamps, contain toxic mercury. If they break, they can fly away.
