In general, services of this type in Germany have so far encountered difficulties in being profitable. Gorillas and Getir have so far been mostly in the red. The Austrian branch of competitor Flink even had to file for bankruptcy last week.
It is not yet known what will happen to Gorillas employees after the takeover. Insiders assume, however, that there will be many layoffs.
