ECO TEST
In the consumer magazine ÖKO-TEST, the deodorants were tested twice. In the most recent test in June 2022, deodorant in cream form was reviewed, in issue 10/2021 only roll-on deodorant was tested.
The test of 2022
For the 06/2022 edition, ÖKO-TEST tested 30 deodorant creams from different manufacturers. Result: two thirds of the products obtain the rating “good” or “very good”. The midfield is sparsely populated. Seven deodorant creams failed the test with an “insufficient” rating, including products from Nivea and Dove.
Winners include:
- age Deodorant cream with organic shea butter from Rossman
- wash Natural & Strong Deodorant Cream
- Ben and Anna Persian Lime Cream Deodorant
The 2021 test
In its issue (10/2021), ÖKO-TEST magazine tested 52 roll-on deodorants for ingredients and effectiveness that do not contain aluminum. Among the products tested are cheap discounters and own brands, but also more expensive natural cosmetics.
Among the test winners, in addition to more expensive branded products such as Dr. Hauschka, Speick and Weleda also position their own inexpensive brands. Among the winners are:
- lidl Roll-On Deodorant Pure Freshness 48h Cien
- norma Elcurina Aloe Vera Roll-On Deodorant
- Edeka Elkos Body Fresh Deodorant 24h Aluminum Free
Due to critical ingredients such as PEG/PEG derivatives and halogenated organic compounds, a few deodorant products had to be heavily criticized by ÖKO-TEST experts. Four products were rated “insufficient” and failed, including well-known brands such as Dove (Moisturizing Deodorant Cream 0% Aluminum Salts) and L’Oreal (48h Mixa efficacy against odours).
