Robert Pattinson is reportedly working with Bong Joon Ho for the Parasite director’s next film appointment reports will be based on an upcoming science fiction novel titled Mickey7, with Bong writing, directing and producing the new adaptation.

Pattinson appears to be playing Mickey7, an expendable colonist who is sent on suicide missions that no one else will undertake. When Mickey7 dies, a clone is generated with most of his memories intact. It sounds a bit like Hardspace: Shipbreaker, a unique physics sim with a similarly expendable starship recovery device currently in Early Access.

Mickey7 hasn’t been released yet, but it’s expected early this year. As Deadline points out in his report, Bong Joon Ho’s adaptation could well be a very different approach to the novel’s story.

Bong Joon Ho found international success with Parasite, a story of a poor Korean family who manages to work their way into employment for a wealthy household, with chilling results. In our review, we described Parasite as a “sneaking up movie” that starts out as dark screwball comedy and gradually turns into tragedy.

Parasite swept the Oscars in early 2020, and Bong has been weighing up his next project ever since. Bong has previously worked on films such as The Host, a film about a fictional monster wreaking havoc on the people of Seoul.

As for Pattinson, he’ll soon be starring in The Batman, which is due out for a spring release. It will be released on March 4th.
