SZA recently spoke openly about their struggles with ADHD. The R&B hit maker stopped by Twitter and tweeted on the subject. She focused her mind on the difficulty of experiencing the chronic disease without medical treatment. Hours after the tweet, hundreds of people showed their support through retweets, likes, and comments.
“Having non-drug adults with ADHD is REALLY bloody hard and absolutely no one has any empathy for it because we are all grown and busy, but GADDAMN,” tweeted SZA. “I’m ready to tap OUT.”
What is ADHD
ADHD, formerly known as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, is a common neurodevelopmental disorder childhood, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Apparently the disease is typically diagnosed in childhood, but, as described by SZA, can persist into adulthood. Children with ADHD cannot simply outgrow the symptoms. These include daydreaming, forgetfulness, fidgeting, excessive talking, difficulty resisting temptation, and even difficulty getting along with other people.
SZA did not provide any further details on how it is dealing with the disease. All fans know, according to her tweet, that she is not getting any medication for her ADHD. However, the sparse details on such a private affair didn’t stop fans from showing SZA love.
Fans show love
By late Friday evening, Twitter users had retweeted the tweet more than 7,300 times. In addition, users left more than 490 comments and liked the message more than 54,600 times. One user replied and offered an entire online community to help the SZA deal with this condition.
“You are not alone and we have a whole black ADHD community ready to join you on your journey,” wrote user @ J0n_j0n. “Going to medication is not the solution or the solution as it involves a lifestyle change and that is fine. You just see the world differently by default and that gives you so much creativity. “
While her fans stand behind her, she recently stood behind their safety. After the Astroworld panic that killed 10 people and injured hundreds, SZA took extra precautions at a show in early November. She stopped a tour-scheduled gig halfway to do a wellness check on the audience. At that time, SZA entered The Shade Room to explain their decision.
“This girl’s eyes rolled back in her head when the song THREE. She was literally limp. It was scary, ”wrote SZA. “What people don’t know is that at concerts they got used to normal consciousness before people started dying. Neither of us is ready to let people die to have a moment off. So WE’RE PAYING EXTRA ATTENTION now. It’s called humanity. Acquire some. Ps I talked to her and now she is fine. You are all blessed. “
