Santa returns in a Disney+ series starring Tim Allen

It’s only January but it’s apparently never too early to get into the Christmas spirit as Disney has announced that Tim Allen will be returning for a new Disney Plus series based on The Santa Clause films.

Allen will reprise his role as Scott Calvin from the original films in addition to serving as executive producer on the series. Jack Burditt, who has worked on 30 Rock, Modern Family, Frasier and more, is also on board as executive producer. Production on the series is slated to begin in March.

The best Christmas movies and TV series of the 2000s

The series began in 1994 with “Santa Claus,” in which an ordinary man is forced to assume all of Santa’s duties after accidentally killing a man in a Christmas costume. The film has had two sequels, The Santa Clause 2 in 2002 and Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause in 2006. The series has been dormant since the release of the third film over 15 years ago.

The new series follows Calvin who still serves as Santa as he nears his 65th birthday. Wanting to return to the normal world, he sets out to find a suitable replacement Santa while preparing his family to leave the North Pole.

While there’s no release window for this new show, you can catch everything new over on Disney Plus this month.
