Retinol serum in the test: Proven younger looking skin
Retinol oil is touted as a real miracle cure in the cosmetics industry. It is said to reduce wrinkles, to be very effective against skin imperfections and to fade pigment spots. The active ingredient, vitamin A₁, axérophtol or also called retinol, is a fat-soluble and essential vitamin. It is considered by dermatologists to be extremely effective in improving the overall appearance of the skin.
However, not all retinol serums deliver what they promise. In order to dampen the strong drying effect of retinol, which can cause skin irritation, burning and itching in some customers, some manufacturers add milder derivatives to the serum.
With these additives, it may take longer to achieve the advertised effects of retinol. Some preparations also omit the retinol component altogether – so it’s worth studying the package labels more closely before buying.
