Quiet, inexpensive and energy-efficient mini PC: the Geekom Mini IT8 at a glance

The equipment of the Geekom Mini IT8 convinced us during the test: Windows 11 Pro is preinstalled, the RAM is 16 GB and a 512 GB SSD offers plenty of space for your data in addition to the OS. In addition to a LAN connection (1000 Mbit/s), WLAN (Wi-Fi 5) is also on board, there are three USB 3.2 Gen2 Type A ports and two USB 3.2 Gen2 Type C ports. Ports are also available. There is also an HDMI 2.0 output and a mini display port 1.4 to connect multiple monitors.

The Intel Core i5-8250U with four cores and clock speeds of 2.3-3.8 GHz ensures good performance. Office work and 4K video streaming are possible without any problems, but unfortunately no gaming: the graphics power is clearly limited by a single internal Intel Iris Plus 655 graphics solution.

The Geekom Mini IT8’s fan is pleasantly quiet at all times. Energy consumption is very efficient: if the system is really used, the power consumption is 62.9 watts.

Our conclusion at the time of the test:

“The compact Geekom Mini IT8 mini PC cuts a very good figure in the test and at an extremely fair price. The relatively powerful equipment includes, for example, 16 GB of RAM, a card reader and pre-installed Windows 11 Pro. Intel provides performance – i5-8259U processor. Graphics performance is limited by the integrated graphics solution. However, video streaming and working with office documents are no problem. The fan is generally very quiet and power consumption is also pleasantly weak.
