PSA: An early version of Horizon Forbidden West has been leaked, beware of spoilers


The New Year is just around the corner and it’s time for a friendly public announcement. Yesterday (January 10), a series of images apparently taken from a leaked copy of the PlayStation 4 version of Horizon Forbidden West made the rounds online.

In a report by VGCSources said the leaked version of the build, apart from some missing art assets, is authentic and includes all of the core content slated for the sequel’s final release – meaning spoilers could follow soon.

Images have been spotted on Twitter that appear to be from the leaked version of the game. While these have since removed Based on a “report from the copyright owner,” it may be advisable to take steps to avoid spoilers before the game officially launches on February 18th.

When Horizon Forbidden West launches next month, it will see a number of notable improvements over its predecessor. Guerrilla has revealed that the protagonist of the series Aloy will have a number of new tricks up her sleeve. These include, for example, a much more open free climbing system, new tools and equipment for traversing the landscape such as the Shieldwing and Pullcaster, as well as a revised skill tree.

In addition to making changes to Aloy himself, Guerrilla also talked about the steps that have been taken to improve the world design of the franchise. According to Guerrilla’s Lead Living World Designer Espen Sogn, the sequel’s new team is working on various aspects of the game’s world design to bring the PlayStation to life exclusively.

While Forbidden West devoted an entire section to bringing the game’s tribes, settlements, and NPCs to life, the sequel didn’t skimp on the sequel’s mechanical wildlife either – with guerrilla commentary suggesting the machine creatures of the Game ideas will use which are not possible in the first game.
