Powerful power stations: Produce and store electricity autonomously

A power station (also: solar generator) can be imagined as a power bank for larger devices. Because with a power bank you can not only charge smartphones, tablets and laptops, but also operate refrigerators and power tools such as drills and saws – even fan heaters wouldn’t be a problem for some power plants. The model also matters a lot here. Not all power stations offer enough power to handle 1,000 watts and more.

If you want to get a power station, you need to know as much as possible in advance what you want to use it for. Because large solar generators cost more accordingly. Conversely, you cannot simply upgrade a power station that is too small and can only handle around 500 watts.

However, not only the watt specification is decisive, but the capacity also plays a central role: the more watt-hours (Wh) the power station can store, the longer you are independent of the power grid – or the sun.

Misconception: a power station can, but does not have to, be charged by solar energy. In most cases, it makes sense to connect a solar panel for charging. If you wish, you can also “recharge” the power station with normal household electricity.
