Pollutants in sheets: which brands are best avoided – ÖKO-TEST

At the end of last year (Edition 10/2021) ÖKO-TEST took care of a product that everyone probably has at home: fitted sheets. In addition to dealing with sweat and saliva, they should not wash or rub despite regular washing. What is probably most important, however, is that they do not contain any critical substances that can harm people or the environment.

As the lab discovered, that’s not always the case. The experts were able to detect halogenated organic compounds in 11 of the 20 sheets examined. They are considered potential allergy triggers and also accumulate in the environment.

After all: five of the products perform “very well” in the test, including inexpensive models under 10 euros.
