Please Never Throw It Down The Drain: How To Properly Dispose Of Used Cooking Oil

After searing or frying, there is usually excess oil left over. However, do not pour this down your sink. Cooking oil cannot combine with water and thus clogs the pipes. In the worst case, the oil will get stuck in your pipes.

  • Cooking oil belongs to residual waste. The waste deposited there is then incinerated. Since oils generally burn well, cooking oil is right here.
  • However, cooking oil should not end up in organic waste or on compost. As it does not decompose over time, it is unsuitable for this type of storage.
