No smartwatch is better: Apple Watch Series 8

When it comes to design, Apple does not dare to experiment. Only a trained eye can see the subtle changes to the case. Because the Apple Watch 8 offers a little more display area. In its design language and user interface, the watch perfectly complements the iPhone. And it still can’t be used without an Apple smartphone.

Inside is the new S8 chip, which, however, offers little more performance than the previous model. He doesn’t need that either. Because the last two models of Apple Watch were already extremely fast and reliable in terms of performance.

Similar to the current generation iPhone 14, the Watch 8 also comes with new gyro and acceleration sensors that detect a car crash. In the event of an emergency, the watch then calls for help and notifies the registered emergency numbers. Another new feature is a sensor that measures skin temperature. Thanks to the new watchOS 9, the smartwatch monitors heart arrhythmia and sleep phases as well as breathing even better. A new medication application reminds and records the taking of appropriate medications. In addition, some sports functions as well as the compass and calendar app have learned new smart functions.

As usual, it’s easy to operate with your fingers. Apple sticks to the proven system of rotating crown and touch input.

When it comes to battery life, the 8th generation of the Apple Watch only offers a good result. In our demanding test procedure, we measure a good 34 hours. That’s about 3 hours longer than the predecessor, but that’s not a record either. It then takes 1 hour and 34 minutes to charge.
