New Line is ready to test its might with Mortal Kombat 2, a sequel to the live-action adaptation that released earlier this year.

meeting reports that the new film will be written by Jeremy Slater, who is also the lead writer of Marvel’s Moon Knight series. It’s primed to follow up on the last film that proved to be a hit from the pandemic era, opened at number one at the box office and is one of HBO Max’s top movies.

Any IGN Mortal Kombat Review

The first film in the series featured confident humor, excellent action scenes, and what our reviewers dubbed “some gnarly deaths.” It proved to be a hit with fans of the series, who still fondly look back to the version that released in the ’90s.

In the meantime, Moon Knight is gearing up for its March 30 release on Disney Plus. An official trailer was released last week, and a synopsis is also available.

Mortal Kombat 2 doesn’t have a release date yet, but while you wait you can check out all the Easter eggs and references from the first film.
