King of the CHIP chart: Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro Max is convincing on all counts

In the test, the Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max shows a very good screen, optimal performance and long battery life. Apple has also equipped its new flagship with a 48-megapixel sensor for the main camera. The front camera also received a small update – autofocus. So the already good iPhone selfies are even better.

Apple’s new A16 Bionic chipset guarantees excellent performance, which together with six GB of RAM is easily enough for all everyday apps and apps – and of course for every current triple AAA smartphone game at maximum graphics settings.

The once again outstanding battery life is remarkable. The 4,323 mAh battery easily lasts several days – with daily use. However, extreme social media and video consumption as well as intense gaming sessions can shorten the runtime.

In direct comparison, photos taken in daylight with the main camera in “Standard mode” are almost identical to those of the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Lab measurements also show no significant improvement in photo quality. The Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max again takes photos with very balanced dynamics, as long as the differences in brightness are not too extreme. The new main camera shows its strengths especially in the ProRAW format.

The iPhone 14 Pro Max also features a redesigned notch. The little black bar that houses the front camera and FaceID sensors has moved a little further into the display. Players, for example, can be controlled as a “dynamic island” where directions from Apple Maps are displayed. A nifty idea and also quite handy in some cases – especially if you use music apps or navigation services.
