Keanu Reeves is reportedly starring in Hulu’s series adaptation of The Devil in the White City, produced by Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese.
According to meetingReeves is in negotiations to potentially take his first major US television role with him in Hulu takes on Erik Larson’s 2003 book, The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the fair that changed America that changed history tells of two men, an architect and a serial killer, whose fates were linked by the Chicago World’s Fair in 1893.
As the publication suggests, the story interweaves the true stories of “Daniel H. Burnham, a brilliant and discerning architect who strives for the world, and Henry H. Holmes, a handsome and cunning doctor who did his own pharmaceutical” murder ” invented Castle ‘on the fairgrounds – a palace built to seduce, torture and maim young women. “
DiCaprio acquired the film rights to the book back in 2010, with plans to adapt the story for a feature film in which he would star as Holmes, with Scorsese directing behind the camera. The project then switched gears in 2019 when it was announced that the adaptation would be developed as a series on Hulu with DiCaprio and Scorsese as executive producers.
Rick Yorn, Jennifer Davisson and Stacey Sher will also serve as executive producers; with Little Children’s Todd Field to direct the first two episodes of the limited series produced by Paramount TV in conjunction with ABC Signature and Appian Way. Castle Rock’s creator Sam Shaw is also said to be working on the adaptation.

Scorsese has been on board to direct the series since 2015 and has worked with DiCaprio on several films over the years, including Gangs of New York, The Aviator, The Departed, Shutter Island, The Wolf of Wall Street, and Killers of the Flower Moon, a film adaptation of David Grann’s 2017 bestseller of the same name.
