Keanu Reeves almost used the stage name “Chuck Spadina”

Matrix Resurrections star Keanu Reeves was known by almost a completely different name – Chuck Spadina.

During an interview with Good morning America, the 57-year-old star of The Matrix Resurrections revealed how his career was almost completely different.

“Well, I’m 20 years old, I’m in my first car, I wanted to go to the cinema, I went to Hollywood,” he explained. “And I get there and they say, ‘We want to change your name’.”

The Matrix 4: Every actor and character confirmed for sequel

According to Reeves, he was told that ‘Keanu’ was “a little too exotic” and that is how he was able to come up with a stage name. When asked what kind of name he was considering, Reeves didn’t skip a moment before revealing it. “Chuck Spadina,” he said. “I just came up with ridiculous names.”

Chuck Spadina.

The Matrix with Chuck Spadina in the lead role. John Wick with Chuck Spadina. That could be on the posters in a parallel universe.

Ultimately, “he couldn’t”. It’s good that Reeves finally stuck to his guns – I can’t imagine what career Chuck Spadina would have had in Reeves’ absence.

Funny how stressed by AV club, Reeves lived in Toronto, which was called a High Street, for most of his youth Spadina avenue – possibly the inspiration behind this nickname.

Fortunately, Reeves stuck to his “exotic sounding” first name. But a version of Speed with Chuck Spadina would certainly have had some highlights.

In all honesty, I don’t know what to do with this information. But since learning of Chuck Spadina’s near-existence, I can’t help but wonder what iconic action films Chuck would have starred in.

Spadina will return to his iconic role as Neo in the upcoming science fiction film The Matrix Resurrections, with a new video featuring the incredible action sequences we can expect in the film. It looks like this elsewhere Tom Hardy will join The Matrix also because the action star appeared as an extra during the filming.

The Matrix Resurrections will open in theaters on December 22, 2021.
