John Wick: Chapter 4 is officially postponed for almost a year, with Lionsgate pushing it through early 2023.
The disappointing news was conveyed via a charming, yet slightly depressing video with the operator at the Wickverse. The new release date is clearly visible on the board: March 24, 2023. It was originally scheduled to appear in May 2022.
“We’ll see you,” says the clip at the end.
This news comes even though the filming of John Wick 4 was completed back in November. It will reportedly be called John Wick Chapter 4: Hagakure and will apparently go “deeper into the assassin’s code”.
John Wick isn’t the only film that has been delayed. Back in October, Disney announced delays for pretty much all of the Marvel slate. Further delays are likely to be expected during the recent wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, Keanu Reeves stars in The Matrix Resurrections, where he wears a beard and hairstyle reminiscent of John Wick. You can see the full cast of John Wick 4 here.
