Monday, November 18, 2019 —InnoGames, Germany’s leading developer and publisher of online and mobile games and part of the Modern Times Group MTG, has reached the mark of EUR 1 billion in lifetime sales. Since the company was founded in 2007, InnoGames has achieved double-digit percentage growth in sales compared to the previous year. Forge of Empires contributed more than 500 million euros to life’s work, followed by InnoGames classics such as Grepolis and Tribal Wars, each with more than 100 million euros. Elvenar, which was introduced in 2015, also made a significant contribution to reaching the milestone and is still catching up quickly. InnoGames’ growth was mainly driven by the company’s strategic move to mobile devices and its ongoing live operations and content updates. Mobile now accounts for half of InnoGames’ total turnover and is the most important growth driver.

While the company’s performance in the browser continues to develop sustainably, the mobile share is set to increase even further. Since 2015, mobile device revenue has increased an average of 56% year-over-year, and the majority of player registrations are on mobile platforms.

As the first in the industry, InnoGames has completed the automated conversion of Flash versions of its browser hits to HTML5 to ensure game longevity when Adobe ends Flash support in 2020. Combined with the mobile apps, players can enjoy the games across platforms and only requires one account.

Our cross-platform approach enables us to benefit from strong margins, especially in the browser. At the same time, we are seeing high growth rates on the mobile phone, ”summarizes Klindworth.

The markets with the highest sales for InnoGames (since 2007) were the USA, Germany and France. To date, all games from the InnoGames portfolio have been played worldwide for the equivalent of 337,723 years.
