High energy costs: With this simple trick you save twice

This trick can be done especially in the kitchen. Because refrigerators and freezers, which are mostly located there, operate more efficiently when their ambient temperature is cool.

In concrete terms, this means that if you lower the room temperature by just one degree when heating in winter – for example by 21 to 20 degrees – the power consumption of household appliances also decreases. About six percent for refrigerators and three percent for freezers. This is underlined by the initiative of the manufacturer Hausgeräte+.

And that’s not all: with this degree less at room temperature, according to the North Rhine-Westphalia consumer advice centre, heating costs are also reduced by around 6% on average.
