Halo Infinite: Canned Mid-Credits Cutscene Apparently Revealed

A deleted cutscene in Halo Infinite’s credits has apparently been unearthed by dataminers – and fans are trying to figure out what (if anything) that could mean for the future of the story.

How divided on Youtube, Gamecheat13 posted the cutscene that apparently was supposed to play after the game’s single player campaign ended, but before the post-credits scene that made it into the final version.

While the deleted scene may no longer be part of Halo Infinite’s future story plans, it could potentially be viewed as a spoiler. Proceed with caution!

During the short clip, the film shows the pilot Fernando Esparza, who sleeps at the helm of the pelican before being quickly woken up by an incoming signal. Hearing the call to action, a startled-looking Esparza calls the Master Chief to share the discovery. “Boss,” says the pilot, “you won’t believe that.”

After the announcement, the incoming signal sounds with the words “UNSC tag recognized. Name, friend.” We are never shown what they see. It’s currently not clear why the mid-credits scene would have been removed from Halo Infinite at the end.

Despite the distance, it didn’t stop fans from theorizing who might have been on the other end of the allied UNSC ship. Hopeful members of the community discussing theories in the comment section of the video have identified a number of potential fan favorites that they would like to see in the group again.

“I really want to see the referee in action again,” said Marshmello games in the YouTube comments section, while another theorized that the broadcast could have been from a fairly well-known Phoenix-class support ship. “Imagine it should be the spirit of fire,” said Nathan Austen. “I was itching to see Red Team and Chief fighting together.” Other guesses are Spartans like Jameson Locke or even your own multiplayer character to be used in the delayed co-op campaign.

While it’s not yet clear whether 343 intends to continue the cut footage, the final Halo Infinite release comes with its own certified Canon post-credit scene designed to show where the franchise could go in the future. While we’re not going to spoil what happens in the scene for anyone who hasn’t reached this stage of the game, those hoping to see the film for themselves can do so in the video below:
