Ghostrunner will release a major new DLC expansion in early 2022, as IGN can exclusively reveal. After calling it the “Ultimate DLC” last week, the developers at Ghostrunner unveiled the new content today, revealing that it is a story-based expansion with a main character from the core game.
The new DLC titled Project_Hel puts you in the role of Hel, one of the trickiest bosses in the original game. In the Project_Hel DLC, she will be a combat-oriented character designed to appeal to “new players and veterans” and will have her own skill enhancement system.
Ghostrunner DLC – Christmas Package
The story of Project_Hel spans six missions and follows Hel as she descends the Dharma Tower. It will also feature new enemies, bosses, and six new tracks from electronic musician Daniel Deluxe. It was originally planned as a smaller DLC piece, but eventually evolved into a “full-blown ghostrunner experience”.
In addition to the new story, 505 Games is planning a free cosmetics bundle. The Christmas package includes several festive swords and matching gloves and will be available on December 7th.
In our original Ghostrunner review, we called it “Speedrunner’s Dream” when it was launched last year. “You can die hundreds of times, but instant respawns and generous checkpoints ensure Ghostrunners’ challenging battles and platforms never become a chore,” said reviewer Mitchell Saltzman.
Since then, 505 Games has announced Ghostrunner 2, a sequel being developed for PS5, Xbox Series X | S, and PC.
When Project_Hel releases, it will be the greatest chunk of the Ghostrunner DLC yet. Players can sign up for a early private beta that will take place before launch, whereby the participants are included in the credits of Project_Hel.
Project_Hel is priced at $ 14.99 and will be released on January 27 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, Nintendo Switch, Amazon Luna, and PC.
