Gas and Electric Scams: Don’t Answer When These Numbers Call

The aim of the callers is to access your personal data in the most relaxed way possible by impersonating an official energy supplier. Also includes:

  • Last name
  • address
  • Gas or electricity meter number

This is often enough for scammers to terminate an existing contract and initiate a change of supplier. Therefore, you should never betray them.

Such a rapid change is possible because the exchange of data between energy suppliers has been made easier for consumers. That’s actually a good thing, but it’s being shamelessly exploited here. If you crack, you can slip into more expensive rates.
