It seems that Fast & Furious 10 will be stuck in the slow lane for a bit longer, as Universal moved the film’s release date by one month from April 7, 2023 to May 19, 2023.
diversity reports that the film’s old slot will go to an untitled animated film in April that comes from the studio behind Shrek. With the move in May, Fast 10 starts the summer blockbuster film season straight away.
This isn’t the movie’s first delay. Almost 10 was originally supposed to be out this year but was postponed after F9 was postponed to last summer due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The stupidest moments from the Fast & Furious films
Fast 10 will serve as the first half of a two-part finale for the Fast and Furious franchise. The film will bring back many family members including Vin Diesel’s Dom, Michelle Rodriguez’s Letty, Sung Kangs Han, and others. Justin Lin will return to the director’s chair after previously working on Fast 3 through 6 and F9.
Another story surrounding Fast 10 is the ongoing feud between Diesel and Dwayne Johnson, who plays enemy friend Luke Hobbs in the Fast films. In the latest development, Diesel took to Instagram to tell The Rock that he “has to show up” for Fast 10 and that he wants Johnson to “rise to the occasion and fulfill your destiny”.
This came after Johnson confirmed he wasn’t going back for Fast 10 or 11 and would instead focus on the Hobbs & Shaw spin-off series.
We loved the last entry, F9, and said, “F9 proudly tosses the audience in the shotgun seat for another absolutely wild ride of thrills, laughter and, in the end, a heartwarming message about the family” in our F9 review.
