Elden Ring is now the most popular game on Steam

For software’s upcoming action-RPG, Elden Ring got 2022 off to a prime by becoming the most wishlist game on Steam.

As discovered by Eurogamer, Elden Ring, directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki and featuring world-building elements from Game of Thrones novelist George RR Martin, became Steams most wanted upcoming release.

Slated for February 25th with the release of Elden Ring at the top of the Steam wishlist leaderboard, it ends a 12-month undefeated streak of Techland’s Dying Light 2: Stay Human that held pole position throughout 2021.

Other notable entries on the list include Recreate Games ‘multiplayer physics brawler Party Animals, Santa Monica Studios’ God of War PC release, and FNTASTIC’s upcoming open-world post-apocalyptic MMO, The Day Before.

As Elden Ring nears its launch, George RR Martin recently spoke briefly about his time working on the game. During one blog entry, Martin stated that he found the offer “too exciting to refuse” when Miyazaki and his fellow game designers presented the idea for Elden Ring to him.

“Miyazaki and his team at FromSoftware did groundbreaking things with great art, and what they wanted from me was just a little world-building: a deep, dark, resonant world to base the game they wanted to make,” Martin wrote. “And besides, I love creating worlds and writing imaginary stories.”

Elden Ring – Leaked character creator

One feature that will likely add to the hype surrounding From Software’s upcoming launch of Elden Ring is the game’s character creator, which recently leaked online and apparently impressed fans. Although similar in style to those of Dark Souls and Bloodbourne, it seems like the creator of the new game will allow players to create much more natural looking human characters than ever before.
