Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson responded to Vin Diesel’s Instagram invitation to return to Fast & Furious 10 by saying that not only is there “no chance” of him rejoining the franchise, but Diesel’s post ” an example of him “is manipulation.”
Speak with CNN, Johnson was asked if he was surprised by Diesel’s post asking him to “show up” for Fast & Furious 10 and “stand up to the opportunity and fulfill your destiny”.
“Vin’s last post surprised me,” said Johnson. “Last June, when Vin and I actually didn’t connect on social media, I told him directly – and privately – that I wasn’t going to be going back to the franchise. I was firm yet warm in my words and said that I would always support “the cast and always stand up for the success of the franchise, but that there was no chance I would return. I’ve also spoken privately to my partners at Universal, who have all been very supportive as they understand the problem. “
He went on to say that Diesel’s move was “an example of his manipulation” and that it was wrong of him to bring up Johnson’s children and Paul Walker’s death in his public attempt to bring him back as Luke Hobbs.
“Vin’s recent public mail was an example of his manipulation. I didn’t like that he brought up his children in the post, nor did Paul Walker’s death. Let them out. We had talked about it months ago and got to my goal. It was from the start, to end my amazing journey with this incredible Fast & Furious franchise with gratitude and grace.
“It is unfortunate that this public dialogue is tarnishing the water. Regardless, I am convinced of the ‘Fast’ universe and its ability to consistently deliver to audiences, and I wish my former co-stars and crew members the best of luck and success in the next chapter. “
The feud between Johnson and Diesel began in 2016 when The Rock referred to an unnamed male co-star as “Candy Ass.” While their 2019 fight seemed to be over in 2019, Johnson publicly announced earlier this year that he would no longer be part of the Fast & Furious family after Diesel commented that he had to show Johnson “hard love” for the achieve desired performance from him.
Johnson has been part of the Fast & Furious franchise since 2011, Fast Five, and his last appearance in the main films was The Fate of the Furious in 2017. In 2019, he returned to his Hobbs & Shaw character alongside Jason Statham.
