Doctor Strange is dead: Marvel Comics reveals the new Sorcerer Supreme

Warning: This article contains spoilers from the end of Marvel’s The Death of Doctor Strange!

Marvel’s The Death of Doctor Strange miniseries will complete in January 2022, but the publisher is already revealing the aftermath of that plot and its impact on the Marvel universe. There will be a new Sorcerer Supreme, and her name is … Doctor Strange?

The Death of Doctor Strange has already lived up to its name and the title hero has come to an end in issue 1. The series has focused on the mystery behind this murder and how Strange’s death affected other supernatural power players like Baron Mordo and Strange’s ex-wife, Clea. Now we know that Clea herself will take on the role of her ex-husband in a new ongoing series starting in March 2022.

The new series will simply be called Strange. The writer of The Death of Doctor Strange, Jed MacKay, will continue his ongoing story and examine how Clea Strange adapts to her new role and how she tries to bring her ex-husband back to life. The series is drawn by Marcelo Ferreira (The Death of Doctor Strange: Spider-Man).

“After the apocalyptic events of The Death of Doctor Strange, there is a new Sorcerer Supreme at 177A Bleecker Street and a new Doctor Strange – Clea Strange,” teased MacKay in Marvel’s press release. “And she made her job for you – when she’s not fighting the magical gangsters of the Blasphemy Syndicate or the undead super monsters, she’s chasing what’s hers: the late Stephen Strange. Clea is from the Faltine, that breed.” by warlords and conquerors, and like their relatives Dormammu and Umar, her desires are not thwarted, not even by the mysterious harvestman who stands in her way. “

Interestingly, that shake comes just two months before Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is released. Is that shock any indication that Clea is about to make her MCU debut?

Doctor Strange isn’t the only Marvel cloak to be passed on to a new hero in 2022. A mysterious new Asian hero will replace Danny Rand as Iron Fist in February, while the re-launched Venom will pass Eddie Brock’s symbiote on to his son Dylan.
