Did you know? Hence the term “08/15”

Explanations of the origin of the term refer to the machine gun model “08/15”, which was mainly used during the First World War. The numbers refer to the year of introduction 1908 and to the year 1915, the year of further development of the weapon. However, the machine gun would have been quite error-prone; so soldiers coined the term “08/15” for something inferior.

A second explanation is the training of soldiers. They had to do monotonous exercises with the machine gun for many hours every day. It got boring over time and so “08/15”, the name of the weapon used for training, became synonymous with routine or boredom over time.
