If you think you’re going to do a Target run tomorrow, think again. The major retailer announced that it will close on Thanksgiving Day and every Thanksgiving.

Speaking of the decision, Target CEO Brian Cornell said, “What started as a temporary measure due to the pandemic is now our new standard.” He reportedly made the decision to move permanently after visiting locations in New York and New Jersey where Employee said they were happy to be home for the holidays.
Last year, other stores like Walmart, Best Buy, and Dick’s Sporting Goods closed for Thanksgiving and will close again this year. However, it is not clear whether they will stay around on the holiday for years to come.
With shops closed for the holidays, this has led to the discussion that companies are now giving their employees time off to spend the holidays with loved ones. States like Massachusetts, Maine, and Rhode Island have already prevented large stores from opening over the holidays.
The store closings have also revealed that some stores started selling earlier for the Christmas season.
