Six Days in Fallujah, the controversial first-person shooter game, has been postponed to the fourth quarter of 2022. Publisher Victura and developer Highwire Games announced the delay on Wednesday in a. known Blog, said the development team planned to double its size.
Six Days in Fallujah was first announced in 2009 and was originally intended to be published under Konami. The controversy that followed resulted in the game being put on hold in 2016 through February 2021 after Highwire Games took over development. The game follows US soldiers through the Second Battle of Fallujah, a controversial battle during the Iraq War in which at least 800 Iraqi civilians were killed by US and British forces.
As described in IGN’s special report on Six Days in Fallujah, the game became the subject of controversy again immediately following the reboot announcement in February 2021. This was due in part to the inherently sensitive nature of adapting a highly controversial real-world fight for a video game, as well as concerns about a lack of representation of Iraqi or Arab citizens in the game of shooting more than faceless enemies.

The Six Days Fallujah official website states that the game was developed with the help of more than 100 Marines, Soldiers and Iraqi citizens, and that the game aims “to give players a deeper understanding of urban warfare through the stories and battles both service members to convey “. and civilians “, although preview footage hardly seems to reflect the Iraqi civil perspective.
In February, Victura CEO Peter Tamte said that Six Days in Fallujah is not attempting to do so “Makes a political comment on whether or not the war itself was a good or a bad idea.” and “will not deal with the political machinations that led to the title conflict.”
Tamte later went back to his March comments and said, “Anyone playing a game about the Iraq war obviously understands that these events are intertwined with politics. What we have said is that we are not trying to make a statement about how the war in Iraq began. Instead, we focus on this battle, the events that led to this battle, and we want the people who were in Fallujah during that battle to speak for themselves during the game. “
Six Days in Fallujah was originally scheduled to appear in December. The new delay means it will be released sometime between October and December 2022. It is currently planned for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, and PC.
