Big changes at Deutsche Bahn: what applies to rail customers with immediate effect
Since Sunday, December 11, 2022the new Deutsche Bahn timetable applies for the first half of 2023.
The railway promises more trains, new routes and more frequent services. However, the expansion of the route will also lead to restrictions in 2023. The renovation of the rail network requires “restrictions on certain connections due to construction sites”, explains Deutsche Bahn.
With the new timetable, train travel will be more expensive: from Sunday, the railway company will increase prices for long-distance transport by an average of 5%. The so-called flexible tickets then even cost almost seven percent more. The prices of the three Bahncard subscriptions, with which passengers benefit from a reduction of 25, 50 or 100% per journey, increased by 4.9%.
According to Bahn, however, the saver and super saver prices remain unchanged, of which a certain quota is still available from 21.90 euros or 17.90 euros per trip. The cost of reserving seats also remained the same, the railway said.
