The first teaser for Bel-Air, Fresh Prince’s reboot, is out and features a dramatic recreation of the iconic theme song from the original.

The familiar texts that Will introduces the story of how his life was turned upside down and turned upside down are present and correct, but this is not the version you remember from the 1990s. Instead of the hip-hop beat from the original, this version is a slower, more dramatic melody with heavy tones and a deliberate, almost melancholy performance. This is sure to be the sitcom’s dramatic restart.
The teaser trailer does not contain the full title melody, but only a few selected texts from the original. It’s also unclear whether this will be the theme song for the show or just used as part of Bel-Air’s marketing.
In a new press release from the show’s creators, showrunners TJ Brady and Rasheed Newson said, “At its core, Bel-Air is a coming-of-age story that celebrates the strength and love of the Black family. We stayed true to the original premise of the Legacy series – Will’s life will be turned upside down after he is forced to leave West Philly and end up in Bel-Air with its fenced mansions and wealth, but our new series brings Will and to the Banks family into the world as we know it now. Bringing these iconic characters to life when you connect them to the cultural pulse of our time was incredible. The series has been the fabric of so much of our upbringing, memories and the joy of seeing us represented on television, so it is important for us to pay tribute to its legacy. ”
