The portal mode of Battlefield 2042 has already been used to create a Battle Royale mode in the style of Call of Duty: Warzone within the shooter. In addition to some interesting workarounds, the bespoke Warfield 100 includes a pre-game lobby, random loot, a locking circle, and more.
As reported by MP1ST, a Reddit users Going under the name u / chbmg recently announced that they have created their own battle royale within the new portal creation tools of 2042. “After spending more hours in the rules editor than I’d like to admit, I’m excited to announce the creation of a full battle royale experience for the Battlefield Portal,” said the user on Reddit.
In the post, chbmg explains a number of features that can be found in the mode – many of which are similar to other modern day battle royales like Call of Duty Warzone. While the user notes that functionality in Warfield 100 may change over time after tweaks and bug fixes, there is still a lot to do in the current format of the mode.
When you jump into a game of Warfield 100, players will be spawned into a pre-lobby area. Armed with a random loadout, players can use this time to do hands-on target practice while they wait for the lobby to fill up. Players are then killed and dropped straight into the warfield.
While the game mode didn’t quite manage to implement a battle bus or dropship to get you in the action, players who enter the game come by parachute and come armed with a starter pistol as well as some grenades.

That’s where things get interesting. As chbmg explains in their post, the portal editor doesn’t allow placing objects like loot in the ground for players to pick up and replace their pistol. In a clever workaround, the Reddit user’s game mode shows players when they are near a weapon with an on-screen message with the words “on-loot”. From here, players will have to crouch three times, after which the Warfield gods will replace their currently held weapon with the items located nearby.
Other workarounds include the game’s shrinking circle, which instead of deadly gas or other substances consists of “a bunch of” hacking “AI players forming an outer circle and closing in a smaller circle every two minutes. When you are outside the limits of the circle of AI players, which are visibly marked in red during the mode to avoid confusion, players can take damage and lead to death.
Similar to Warzone, dying in Warfield 100 sends you to a prison where you can fight for your chance to escape. Where Warzone (usually) only grants one chance in the gulag, Warfield 100 is a bit more forgiving. According to the Reddit post, every time a player dies in the game, they will have to do an extra kill in the prison area in order to rejoin the Warfield. However, this kill limit is reached if a player takes more than four kills to get out of prison – at that point they will be terminated and taken out of the game.
After a positive response from the Battlefield subreddits, chbmg thanked the fans for their kind words. “Wow, I wasn’t expecting a big reception as I’m a newbie to Reddit. Thank you for the awards and the kind words, ”they said before realizing that the mode still needs a fair amount of work.
