Batman: Danny DeVito plans to meet with Tim Burton to repeat his role as the penguin

Actor Danny DeVito wants to play the legendary Batman villain Penguin again. Speak with Forbes, DeVito said playing Oswald Cobblebot in 1992 Batman Returns was “one of the highlights of my career” and he would like to partner with Batman Returns director Tim Burton to repeat his role.

“I have a feeling that it is not out of the question that the penguin will return one day, but it is entirely up to Tim whether Tim wants to do so or not,” said DeVito. “I’d say that might be an issue because we’re not dead yet (laughs). We could do a continuation of what we had in the past because that was a really brilliant movie. You gave me this opportunity and I am very grateful and would I like to visit you again? Why not! It was a really great moment for me. “

Batman Returns saw Michael Keaton’s Batman Against the Penguin, who planned a conspiracy to kill all of Gotham City’s firstborn sons in retaliation for his parents leaving him. The film cracked the top 5 in our ranking of all Batman films, thanks in part to the terrifying penguin.

Keaton will repeat his role as Caped Crusader in the upcoming Flash solo film. So who says DeVito’s penguin couldn’t make a comeback one day? DeVito is currently making a comic return to the character, writing a story to celebrate Penguin’s 80th birthday in DC’s one-shot comic for Gotham City Villains Anniversary.

Meanwhile, another penguin will face off against Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne in The Batman next spring. Colin Farrell will be giving his opinion on the character, and it’s a casting decision that DeVito approves, saying, “I love Colin Farrell. He is one of my favorite actors. I can barely wait for it!”

And it seems like more Penguin is to come, as a penguin spin-off from The Batman is reportedly in development. The show will apparently revolve around Farrell’s penguin and his rise into the criminal underworld.
