Furious! Matt Doran beamed when he landed in London for an exclusive interview with Adele earlier this month, but found himself in the hot seat after admitting he wasn’t prepared for the meeting.
According to The Daily Telegraph, Channel 7 reporter Matt Doran was banned for two weeks after admitting to Adele that he hadn’t heard her latest album during an interview with her. Doran flew from Sydney to London on November 4th for the exclusive interview that Adele allegedly left after insulting her.
The Daily Telegraph reports that Doran did not ask questions about Adele’s new album during the interview and admitted the singer had not heard it after asking his opinion on the project.
The network reportedly spent $ 1 million on the package, including broadcast rights to Oprah Winfrey’s One Night Only interview and concert. Although Adele’s interview was taped, her label reportedly denied Channel 7 the rights to air any of it.
Doran told the Australian that he was ashamed and unequivocally apologized after the incident.
“When I sat down to interview Adele, I had absolutely no idea that I had received a preview of her unreleased album by email,” he said. “I’ve since found out that it was sent to me as an e-card link that I kind of overlooked when I landed in London.”
After Doran received some backlash from fellow journalists accusing him of “snubbed” Adele, Doran insisted the comment was just a mistake.
“It was an accident, but NOT an intentional snub,” said Doran. “This is the most important email I have ever missed. “I am completely confused. I begged Sony to publish the interview. “
