Alec Baldwin claims he “didn’t pull the trigger” during the first sit-down interview since the fatal filming of “Rust”

Alec Baldwin opened up in tears in his first sit-down interview over what happened on the set of the film, ‘Rust’. As previously reported, Alec accidentally fired a prop gun that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and director Joel Souza on the set in New Mexico. News of the shooting rocked the industry, leaving many confused about how an accident like this could happen.

In the trailer, George Stephanopoulos interviews Alec, apparently trying to clarify how the gun was fired, saying, “It wasn’t scripted for the trigger to be pulled,” to which Alec replied, “Well, the trigger was not pulled “I didn’t pull the trigger.” Alec also claimed he wasn’t sure how a sharp bullet got into the Colt .45 revolver he was using on the scene.

As previously reported, on October 22nd, court documents showed that an assistant director working on the set presented Alec with the loaded gun and told him it was safe to use; However, the director allegedly did not know that the weapon was actually the opposite.

As the trailer continued, the veteran actor said to George, “Somebody put a sharp bullet into the gun, a bullet that shouldn’t even be on the property.” As the clip continued, he took the time to talk about Halyna, detailing how the wife and mother was someone everyone worked with and how she was liked and admired by the same group of people. Alec also reflected on her death, stating that it doesn’t seem real.

The full hour-long interview will air on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. ET / 7:00 p.m. CT on ABC and streamed on Hulu later that evening. Roommate, will you watch?
